SCRAPPING ACROSS THE UNIVERSE CHALLENGE!

SCRAPPING ACROSS THE UNIVERSE has a challenge with a great prize.  We're supposed to scrap about a crush, being an athlete, etc.  So here is my high school crush.  He also played baseball and played short stop at Angels stadium for CIF.  When we met, I was so in love with him.  Most of my junior year I was going to all his baseball games and him coming to my house with some roses he picked along the way.  He gave me his senior ring and I gave him mine.  Which he wore on his pinky finger.  I was also wearing his lettered jacket.  We were together for 6 months before we got married.  My senior year, I went back to school with a wedding ring on my finger. A gold band with a little diamond.  That was in 1977.  Our first child, a son-was born in 1979 and our second child, a girl-was born in 1981.

LO for a challnge at MY CREATIVE SCRAPBOOK

The challenge at MY CREATIVE SCRAPBOOK is to lift a LO from one of their DT's.  Go HERE to see the prize thats being offered...  This LO is of me, in 5th grade.  Our school picture.
Journaling:
Here I am, my 5th grade school picture at Del Norte School.  I'm wearing a green pleated dress.  I remember this picture because my teacher, Mr. Moss always told me I looked pretty in green.  I'd tell him thank you with an embarrassed smile.  The gold charm in this lo was from my parents.  P for Patsy.

I'm lifting Gabrielle Pollacco's LOVE lo.

OMG!! Guess what I got

A JANOME SEW MINI!!  It's on sale right now..   $49.99  That's $10 off the price.  I don't know how long it will be at that price, so if you interested in a mini sewing machine, you might want this one.  So far I'm loving the Janome.  I've sewed a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch and they came out perfect.

For those of you that have bought the cheap $10 machines and sent them back, please raise your hand.  (My hand is raised high)  I hated the first machine I bought.  I couldn't get it to sew on anything.

The Janome sew mini is heavier, sturdy, and sews like a dream.  Todays just my first day sewing, so I'll give an update sometime in March.

ALL MOMENTS REMEMBERED WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE 2-24-09

For this week, I want you to sew on your LO.  But I want you to pick a pattern from one of these sites.(Card Stitching) or (Anns Paper  Art).

Download the pattern you choose.  Print it out on plain paper.  You can size the image smaller if you want.  Size is up to you.  Same rules apply, 12x12 down to a 6x6 LO.  You can use the whole pattern or part of the pattern (it would be great if you showed at least half of the pattern)  Due on 3-3-09 before 9 p.m. (ET)

Punching the pattern:
I placed my pattern on my black cardstock and put paperclips to hold it in place.  Then I placed it on my mouse pad (you need something soft to do this-mousepad) and used my punch to poke through the holes. One picture shows the pattern and my punch, the other shows the pattern after I finished punching through the CS.

Sewing:
I just threaded my needle with the thread I would use for sewing.  I picked white.  Then I sat at my scraptable and sewed. (up through the first hole, down through the second hole, up through the fourth hole and down the third hole) did that make sense?  I did that until I was finished.

I used mine on the background of my LO.  The white thread shows up really good.  I used material, trying to match the 1964 era.  And then I found the pp, embellies, etc-that I wanted to use and just started placing everything, moving it, placing it again, until I was satisfied.  I wanted some pattern showing, which is really hard to do with an 8x8 lo... LOL

Can't wait to see what  you create!

Supplies used:

mat & post office card-AMR kit

Yo Yo's

No, not the toy yo yo, the cloth yo yo's.  I saw a yo yo template on a quilting show and thought I could use them on cards and scrapbook pages.  The template is two pieces that snap together, called a disc and a plate.  You sandwich the material between to two and sew in the areas it shows.  And wahla, round yo yo's &  flower yo yo's.  I have different sizes too but this is what I did last night while watching TV.  They came out pretty good.  I just have to remember to push the gather around so the flowers look more even.  And I need to get some solid colored material too...

AMR Friday Team Challenge

I thought alot about this challenge and had some good ideas, until I saw the butterfly on Dougnat diaries blog. (http://www.dougnat.blogspot.com/) The butterfly that she made drew my eye immediately. It was beautiful! I had to try making something similar. So, I got a (free) frame my DD gave me from our city's, Hesperia Days. Resized the butterfly pattern I had, made it smaller. Glued buttons (my button jar) on the butterfly. Put clear packaging on the back of the frame for a window. Cut out the window frame (J3 Designs), added some clouds (J3 Designs) and some flowers/leaves (Prima & RAK<>

Now I just need to add a verse.

AMR Wed. Product Challenge

This LO is for the AMR Wednesday Product Challenge.  The challenge is to color a embossed image and include it in your LO..

All the paper is from K&Co., Blue Awning. (AMR)
I used the Cuttlebug Floral Fantasy folder (AMR)
Ink-Tim Holtz, distressed (AMR)
Ribbon-AMR kit
Bic pens (costco)

I used a clear plastic window from a toy box.  I ran it through the cuttle bug with the floral fantasy folder.  Then I cut a heart out of the embossed clear plastic.  Next, I colored the side that indents.  Punched holes with my Crop-a-dial (We R Memory Keepers)  Threaded some thin ribbon around the heart and added a bow with some thicker ribbon.
